Top 5 Ways to Get Pregnant

If you are looking to fall pregnant in the future then you probably want to know the best ways to get pregnant fast. This post will show you the top 7 fertility tips that you can do today to improve your chances of conceiving a baby.

Fertility Tip #5 – Keep the Sperm Cool.

Get your partner to wear loose underwear like boxer shorts and avoid hot showers or baths. Sperm can be damaged if they get too hot and so to keep them healthy it’s best to keep them cool.

Fertility Tip #4 – Skip the Coffee

It seems that caffeine makes it harder to fall pregnant and in a study in 2003 it was found that women who drank 2 or more cups of coffee per day took longer to fall pregnant than those that didn’t drink at all.

If you can’t give up your daily coffee, then switch to decaffeinated.

Fertility Tip #3 – Quit the cigarettes

We already know that smoking can damage an unborn fetus, but know it’s clear that smoking can also reduce your chances of success when trying to fall pregnant. And it applies to your partner as well. For your health and the future health of your baby, quit today.

Fertility Tip #2 – Take Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is known to balance the hormones and improve your luteal phase (in case you have a problem in that area). In fact some women swear that Vitamin B6 was enough to get them pregnant when they had failed for months before taking it.

Fertility Tip #1 – Know your Ovulation Day

A woman is most fertile on her ovulation day, but knowing this day is tricky. Charting your menstrual cycles by taking your temperature with a body basal thermometer is one way to find out when you ovulate and better understand your cycles. You should aim to have intercourse starting five days before you ovulate right up to and past one day after your ovulate to give yourself the best chances of catching the egg.

By knowing these methods of getting pregnant you have a much better chance to know how to fall pregnant fast rather than just relying on luck.

Getting Pregnant

There are many different methods in getting pregnant that people try to help improve their chances to conceive a baby.

And while one method might not be right for everyone, as everyone has different reasons why they are not falling pregnant, there is a few tips that you can use right now to help you fall pregnant quicker!

Knowing your ovulation day is the first step in getting pregnant fast as you are most fertile on the day that you ovulate. You can find out your ovuation day by usings OPK's, charting your temperature, using saliva monitors like Maybe Baby or keep track of your cervical mucus.

Once you know your usual ovulation day (and don't just assume that it's on day 14 as this is just an average day) you can aim to start trying for your baby from around 5 days before right up to one day after your ovulation day. That should allow your partner's sperm a good chance of catching the egg.

Most doctors recommend that you have intercourse every day when trying to conceive (TTC) except in cases where your partner's sperm may be low in quality where they recommend every second day to give his sperm enough time to replenish adequately.

There are also many different vitamins and herbs that are recommended to help improve your fertility - amoung them being Vitamin B6 which is great for lengthening your luteal phase, Vitex which many women swear has helped them fall pregnant by balancing their hormones and evening primrose oil which can help improve your cervical mucus (which helps the sperm get to where they are going and live longer).

How to conceive a girl baby (the truth!)

People have been trying to conceive a baby of their choice for years. There have been rumors and old wives tales that range from eating a rabbit’s genitals for a boy (yuk!) to eating half and apple, seeds and all for a girl.

Of course we know that the gender of a child is chosen at the moment of conception and not changed once we are pregnant, so this post will go over some of the things that you can do to help to fall pregnant with a girl baby.

There are many different methods to tell you how to conceive a girl. But by far the two most popular are the Shettles and Whelan Method.

Interestingly enough both methods contradict each other in timing (Shettles says that to have a girl you should have intercourse no sooner than 3 days before ovulation, and Whelan suggests that to get pregnant with a girl baby you should have intercourse on the day of ovulation and the day after).

So if these two popular methods are the exact opposite about when you are supposed to try and conceive a female child then what should you do.

Fortunately both agree that the missionary position is better for getting a girl, and also that you should try and make your vaginal environment as acidic as possible.

You can do that by drinking cranberry juice or taking cranberry tablets.

Your partner should also drink caffeinated beverages (coffee, tea, cola) before you have intercourse as the caffeine ‘wakes up’ the more active female sperm.

Another method that is growing in popularity is the O+12 method which was developed by a New Zealand woman after trying the Shettles method unsuccessfully six times when trying for a girl. This method states that to get pregnant with a baby girl, you should aim to have intercourse approximately 12 hours after ovulation.

So in summary, for conceiving a girl, forget timing since the most popular methods disagree about when you are supposed to do it and instead concentrate on the few things they do agree on:

  • Your partner should drink a caffeinated drink before trying
  • You should be drinking cranberry juice
  • Try in the missionary position.

Good luck!

Conceiving a baby boy - Choose Your Method

Even though you will be happy with whatever child you get, sometimes, especially if you already have a large family of all the same gender, you might be wishing to get pregnant with a boy or girl next.

There is nothing wrong with wishing for a certain gender and trying for a boy or girl baby can actually be a lot of fun so this post will go over some of the things you can do to put the odds in your favor of conceiving a boy.

There are a few different theories on gender selection so let’s look at each briefly:

The Shettles Method: Developed by Dr Landrum Shettles this method is about timing to take advantage of the Y chromosome (male sperm) and X chromosome (female sperm) getting to the egg first. For a boy you should have intercourse as close to the woman’s ovulation day as possible. He recommends trying for a boy around 24 hours before ovulation and up to one day after.

The Whelan Method: Elizabeth Whelan actually recommends the opposite to Shettles and says for a boy you just have intercourse no earlier than three days before you ovulate.

The Ericson Method: A more advanced method, this involves separating the sperm in a laboratory through a filtering process and then injecting the X or Y sperm (depending on your preference) by insemination.

Billings Method: Relies on observing cervical mucus levels. When you have the most fertile cervical mucus then you are at a high chance of conceiving a baby boy.

Also make sure your partner avoids any caffeine (especially on the day that you are trying to conceive) as caffeine apparently stimulates the more active Y sperm and you can increase your chances of falling pregnant with a girl.

Your partner should also were boxers (instead of tight fitting underwear) and avoid hot baths or showers.

B6 and Fertility - How To Boost Your Chances of Conceiving

Vitamin B6 has been known to increase your fertility by balancing your hormones. It’s great for lengthening your luteal phase (if you have a luteal phase defect), it can regulate your blood sugar and even has a hand in reducing your PMS.

The luteal phase is the time between ovulation and menstruation and should last over 11 days (14 days is considered optimal). However many women experience luteal phases of 10 days or less which isn’t long enough to conceive even if the egg was fertilized (it won’t get time to embed into the uterine lining).

Of course you can have too much of a good thing as well (too much B6 can be harmful) so just how much vitamin B6 do you need for optimal fertility?

Most women have good results from just 50mg of B6 per day but you can safely take up to 200 mg without any harm.

It’s a good idea to start out with the lower dose of 50mg to see if it improves your luteal phase. And increase it gradually each month.

While taking Vitamin B6 it’s also important to take a multivitamin that contains all the other B vitamins as they work well together and help each other to be absorbed by the body better (otherwise you are just likely to pee them out with that bright yellow pee).

The most important B vitamin when you are trying to conceive is B12 or folic acid which can help prevent spina bifida in your baby. Vitamin B6 and B12 work really well together and should both be taken when trying to conceive.

You can take B6 throughout your entire cycle from Day 1 right up to menstruation. You don’t need to stop while you are menstruating as B6 can also help with PMS.

You can get B6 in tablet form or from the following foods.

Foods with vitamin B6 in them:

  • Cereal
  • Eggs
  • Legumes
  • Liver
  • Meat
  • Wholegrains
  • Yeast

Pick the Gender of Your Baby Review

Not too long ago I came across a book that claims to help you conceive either a boy or girl, depending on your preference. The book, Pick the Gender of Your Baby by Ashley Spencer was receiving lots of positive reviews so I thought it was time to look into it further.

The website claims a 94.8% success rate which is rather impressive if it’s true, and while I can’t personally tell you if it works or not (even though I am trying to fall pregnant I’ll be happy with either sex) with a refund policy that has no time limit (very rare to see these days!) it is certain worth a look.

So what is inside Pick the Gender of Your Baby?

Timing is very important when it comes to gender selection. During a woman’s cycle her cervical fluid changes and thus her PH levels are either highly acidic (in which case you are more likely to have a girl) to highly alkaline (when you are more likely to have a boy).

You can find out what level of PH you are at usually by knowing whereabouts in your cycle you are. The closer you get to ovulation day the more alkaline your cervical fluid becomes.

Diet is another factor in determining sex because again, this can change the PH levels in the body of both the male and female. Apparently if the father is a vegetarian then you’ll probably have a boy. If the mother avoids any salt then she’ll be more likely to have a girl.

And finally the position that you have sex and whether the mother has had an orgasm or not is another important factor in conceiving the gender of your choice. Now I’m not sure I want to forgo having an orgasm just to get a boy or a girl but I’m sure if you are desperate for either sexes then you are willing to make this sacrifice.

Overall this book seems sound and has a virtually non-existent refund rate which means people are happy with their purchase - so it must work!.
